Medical Intervention

Three determinants of obesity: genetics, environment, psychology

The three determinants of obesity include Genetics, Environment, and Psychology. Although we cannot control our genetics, we can change what we think and what we do!

Environment is the major modifiable determinant factor for obesity. It is the reason why the U.S. has the highest rate of obesity in the developed world.

The obesity epidemic that is sweeping our nation can be attributed to the cultural cuisine of America: the Western pattern diet. Also known as the meat-sweet diet, it mainly consists of fast food and junk food.

Home-cooked meals and fresh produce have been replaced with fatty, sugary, nutrient-deficient foods. With us adults setting this example, it is no wonder that adolescent and childhood obesity has tripled over the past 20 years. The epidemic has spread to our children, and we are responsible! This is no longer a personal struggle. It is the fight to save our entire nation.

On the Myrtle Beach Diet, we have three different levels on our diet program. Due to the complex and frequently overlapping causes of obesity, our BEAM-Flex program provides for a smooth transition between the three levels. This allows you to adjust the aggressiveness of your diet to accommodate the chaos and stress of our lifestyles, as well as to rapidly correct for the inevitable slip-ups that will occur.

Medical Intervention can be highly beneficial for weight loss, and some patients use appetite suppressants to help gain control over their eating habits. We even have a mail order program that would allow you to receive medications without having to drive to us every month, but you would have to come here the first time to see Dr. Norman and become an established patient. Dr. Norman only uses anorexiants such as phentermine, phendimetrazine, and diethylpropion because they are not amphetamines, and they do not possess the addictive potential of amphetamines. The BEAM-Flex Program was designed by a medical doctor to offer you the highest level of anti-aging and obesity treatment in the world today! Dr. Norman has specialized in Bariatric medicine for over 30 years and will soon become the first physician in South Carolina to receive his Master?s degree in Anti-aging and Regenerative Medicine.
