Dr. Norman's Story
After graduating from the Medical University of South Carolina, I began practicing medicine in Charleston, SC. When a beautiful Italian woman applied to work as my assistant in 1973, I was totally unaware of the adventure that God had in store for me. Nan helped me to lose the weight I had put on during medical school, and when she became my wife, we vowed to live a healthy life together. In 1975, Nan and I moved to the small coastal town of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina with a suitcase and our cocker spaniel. As we started my family practice of medicine, I was shocked to see the vast number of grossly over-medicated and overweight patients in need of medical care. I was pleasantly surprised when my patients began to voice interest in my personal exercise and dietary discipline. I achieved optimal results when patients altered their own diets, started exercising and made positive life changes.
As I began giving my patients these "prescriptions" for weight loss, the response was overwhelming. Nan's mother came to work answering phones, while taking care of our first daughter--and her namesake--Tosca. One night, after putting Tosca to bed, my wife Nan sat at our kitchen table with an old-fashioned typewriter and Dr. Norman's Myrtle Beach Diet was born.
My solo practice has now evolved into a wellness-based program with my wife Nan, and daughters Tosca and Olga. By giving patients a lifetime diet prescription, we began a 'revolution' in standard care that receives great support from the public.
We have been living this program for over 30 years, and we never lose enthusiasm for seeing another individual transformed inside and out by our practical steps for healthy living! I welcome you to join the Myrtle Beach Diet Family today.
God Bless,
Fred Paul Norman, MD
